Course Format - Dates & Times Friday- May 16, - 4:00-8:30pm Saturday -Monday - May 17-19 - 9:00-5:30pm The National Lifeguard Instructor course trains Instructors to teach and evaluate NL programs to include: • NL Pool • NL Waterpark • NL Waterfront • NL Surf In addition to providing NL programming for the public, NL Instructors also act as mentors to new lifeguard staff and provide leadership in staff inservice training. The NL Instructor course is a Branch run program and candidates must register with the Branch office at least three weeks in advance as there are pre-course assignments. Prerequisite(s): National Lifeguard (any option; need not be current), Lifesaving Instructor & Examiner (need not be current) Process to obtain certification: 1. Pass the NL Instructor course. 2. Teach and examine at least two Bronze Medal awards (Bronze Star not included) prior to the NL Instructor Apprenticeships (recommended to complete prior). 3. Successfully complete an apprenticeship on a 44-hour NL Pool or 44-hour NL Waterfront course and exam, and an 8-hour NL Pool or Waterfront Precert/Recert course/exam with an approved NL Apprenticeship Supervisor.
