About this event
A mock trial is a hands-on simulation of the American judicial system, perfect for the budding attorney or judge in your family. This course aims to help participants acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system, develop analytical abilities and communication skills, display leadership in a court of law, and understand their obligations and responsibilities as participating members of our society. In this class, students will understand life as a lawyer. They will learn how to craft and deliver opening statements, how to introduce evidence, how to question a witness for their side and cross-examine a witness for the other side, how to give a compelling, powerful closing argument, how to object to arguments, the difference between state and federal courts, the difference between a bench and jury trial and more. This course utilizes materials from the American Bar Association.
