In ASL I, students will embark on an enriching journey into the world of visual communication and Deaf culture. Through engaging lessons, interactive activities, and hands-on practice, students will learn the fundamentals of ASL, including vocabulary, grammar, and basic conversation skills. From fingerspelling to expressing emotions and concepts through sign, students will develop the ability to communicate effectively using this beautiful and expressive language. With a focus on cultural sensitivity and appreciation, students will also gain insight into the Deaf community and learn about the history, traditions, and contributions of Deaf individuals. **HS credit will require practice work to be completed outside of class.
